Recently, Ontario announced that it would lift some restrictions on health and safety throughout the state’s business, including casinos. This series of news is warmly welcomed by Niagara Casino, which is now rebuilding its business and slowly trying to return to normal operations and activities.
The unprecedented situation has been very difficult for the land gambling industry, as casinos have had to be shut down several times since the outbreak in March 2020. Most recently, the company’s two casinos closed for nearly a month in January this year, but indicators such as deregulation suggest the industry may soon recover.
Niagara Casino President Richard Taylor recalled that the company with the Casino Niagara & Fallsview Casino Resort is one of the largest employers in the Niagara Falls area with more than 3,500 employees. He said the January reopening had summoned nearly 2,200 employees by the company and is expected to summon more when restrictions are lifted.
Taylor explained that the unprecedented situation is quite heavy for employees, with some employees taking emergency leave for infectious diseases. This program allows up to three days of paid vacation. According to the company’s president, there is also a provision for unpaid, occupational protection leave. The company will also recall employees based on customer level and ability to reopen all amenities.
Beyond that, he has made it clear that over the past two years it has been difficult for the company to operate at limited capacity or not at all, but understands the need for restrictions on health and safety, supports Ontario’s public health guidelines, and shares his company’s joy to work again in the province.
In addition to gaming activities, the two casinos will witness the return of dining facilities and live shows. The Avalon Ballroom will open next month. The Jersey Nights show begins to have fun. The president also resumed dining options, adding that the hotel is in operation and that everything is currently in order.
The casino, which celebrated its 25th anniversary at Niagara Falls in December last year, has welcomed more than 100 million gamblers every year since its opening, featuring a special menu at LEV2L to commemorate it, and the casino was illuminated in the company’s trademark green and gold colors.
Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino Resort both bring tremendous economic value to the region, as they receive about $20 million in CA annually from Niagara Falls. Last year’s closure of the two properties resulted in a budget gap of about 19.1 million CA because the municipality received only 3.9 million CA, Acting Finance Officer John Levens said not long ago.
