Kambi Group Acquires Ontario I-Gaming Certificate

The latest news emerging from Ontario’s gaming segment confirms that independent sports books and sports betting technology provider Kambi Group is set to join the state’s market. This week, the company announced it had been approved by the Ontario Alcohol and Game Commission to join an open eyegaming and sports betting regime for private operators.

After being previously delayed by AGCO, the highly anticipated launch of the market will take place on April 4, 2022. Upon LIVE, licensed game and sports betting operators can legally offer online products to eligible ontarians within the state’s borders. Operators can also offer a single event bet recently introduced in the country.

Now, with regulatory permission, Kambi Group can operate regulated game-related vendors and provide game services to other licensees in the market, providing sportsbook technology services to companies that can be used as sports betting service platforms in the province.

Kristian Nylen, CEO and co-founder of an independent company, said she was thrilled to be one of the first sportsbook providers to obtain a license to operate in the region. He said the license is a breakthrough, and a demonstration of the company’s expertise and complete compliance record, the company will be ready to deliver its products from day one in the market.

Recently, Martha Oton, executive director of iGaming Ontario, a subsidiary of AGCO, issued a statement on the new market. According to her, Ontario consumers should know that all approved operators have met strict standards for gaming and operator integrity, fairness, player protection and social responsibility. Therefore, players can expect a safe and regulated gaming environment.

Mr Otton also added that preventing minor access while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, including anti-money laundering rules and regulations, is only part of the iGO’s measures to provide a safe environment. In other words, local markets will generate revenue that is critical to the local economy, while providing improved entertainment options.

So far, AGCO has licensed a series of famous game companies to enter the local iGaming market. For example, earlier this month, FanUnit received a gaming-related supplier certificate from the Commission and is currently preparing to conduct it live in the province with the grand launch on April 4, 2022.

Rush Street Interactive, an Illinois-based online gaming and sports betting company, will also join the Ontario regime. Companies that already offer social games in the province via CASON4Fun®, a free gaming platform, can now launch incontinence products. This includes the Bet Rivers sportsbook app, which supports the same gameplay, and the iGaming platform, which utilizes various P2P slot tournaments.
