South Korean athletes are expected to win nine gold medals and finish 10th overall at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which are scheduled to kick off on Aug. 27 (KST).

According to the medal forecast by country for this year’s Paris Olympics, released by U.S. data analytics firm Grayscale on Wednesday, South Korea is expected to win nine gold, four silver and 13 bronze medals to finish 10th in the overall ranking by the number of gold medals.

Compared to a month ago at the end of June, when the forecast was eight gold, five silver and 16 bronze, the number of gold medals increased by one and the total number of medals decreased from 29 to 26.

This is better than the KOC’s target of five gold medals and 15th place overall.

It also compares favorably with Sports Illustrated’s prediction of five gold, five silver and seven bronze medals earlier in the day.

According to the Grayscale forecast, South Korea will sweep the archery men’s and women’s team and mixed team events to win three gold medals, while badminton’s Ahn Se-young will top the podium in women’s singles.

Fencing’s men’s sabre and women’s epee teams are also favored to win gold, with sports climbing’s Lee Do-hyun, taekwondo’s Seo Gun-woo and weightlifting’s Park Hye-jung also expected to win gold.

Silver medals are expected to go to the women’s doubles team of Lee So-hee and Baek Hana in badminton, Hwang Sun-woo in the men’s 200-meter freestyle, Lee Da-bin in taekwondo and Kim Soo-hyun in weightlifting.

The bronze medal favorites are Kim Woo-jin in men’s archery, Seo Seung-jae and Kang Min-hyuk in badminton, Song Sera in women’s epee and the women’s sabre team, Ryu Sung-hyun in gymnastics, Kim Min-jong, Heo Mi-mi and Lee Joon-hwan in judo, Seong Seung-min in women’s modern pentathlon, Hwang Sun-woo in men’s 800-meter freestyle relay, Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yoo-bin in mixed doubles and men’s team in table tennis, and Park Tae-joon in taekwondo.

Athletics’ Woo Sang-hyuk in the men’s high jump and Ko Jin-young in women’s golf, both of whom are in the medal hunt, did not make the cut.

The overall medal standings projections show the United States in first place with 39 gold medals, followed by China in second place with 34 gold medals.

In third place is France with 27 gold medals and fourth is Great Britain with 17 gold medals.

Fifth through ninth are the Netherlands (16 gold), Australia (15 gold), Japan (13 gold), Italy and Germany (11 gold or more).

North Korea was expected to finish in 79th place with one silver medal.

At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Gracenote predicted seven gold, nine silver, and four bronze medals for South Korea, while the Associated Press predicted 10 gold, but the country’s actual result was six gold, four silver, and 10 bronze. 바카라사이트
