S. Korea’s Paradise Co. casino sales fall by 5 pct in Nov

Casino sales at Paradise, South Korea’s foreign-only casino operator, fell 4.9 percent in November from a year earlier, data showed Wednesday at the Korea Exchange.

Such revenue was approximately 51.63 billion won ($45.8 million) compared to approximately 54.29 billion won in November 2017.

Table sales fell 6.7% year-on-year to 47.4 billion won last month, down nearly 50.82 billion won from a year earlier.

The drop in table revenue was offset by a 21.9% year-over-year increase in machinery revenue to 4.23 billion won in November this year, up from nearly 3.47 billion won a year earlier.

The company’s monthly update does not provide a comment on why sales fluctuated year-over-year.

In the first 11 months of 2018, total casino revenue in Paradise rose 16.6% year-over-year to about 583.15 billion won.

Table sales in the first 11 months of the year rose 16.7 percent year-on-year to 543.98 billion won. In the first 11 months of this year, sales of machinery rose 15.7 percent to 39.17 billion won.

TABLE DROP – The amount of cash exchanged for chips by customers at the table was just over W5.28 trillion in the first 11 months of 2018, up 13.5% year-over-year.

Paradise’s latest casino figures are based on the results of four venues operated by its casino business division. Walkerhill in Seoul, Jeju Grand in Jeju Island, Busan Casino in the southern port city of Busan, and Paradise City in Incheon (pictured) are near the main international airport serving the capital city of Seoul.

The casino operator reported last month that its net profit in the third quarter of 2018 rose 11.6% year-on-year to about 4.72 billion won.
