Hoi Lun Earns First PL Player of the Month Nomination! Saka-Watkins to Contend with

The nominees for the Premier League (PL) February Player of the Month have been revealed.

The Premier League has announced the eight nominees for the February Player of the Month award for the 2023-24 season on its official website.

The nominees are Phil Foden (Manchester City), Juan Gomes (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Pascal Gross (Brighton & Hove Albion), Roberto Firmino (Manchester United), Rodrigo Muniz (Fulham), Xherdan Shaqiri (Arsenal), and Olly Watkins (Aston Villa).

One of the frontrunners is Höyelun. He scored five goals and provided one assist in four wins in February, earning his first ever Player of the Month nomination. The PL Secretariat said: “He was directly involved in six goals in February, scoring in all four of his appearances to extend his Premier League record for consecutive games scoring to six. He became the youngest player in history to achieve this milestone.”

The stigma of being labeled a “zero-goal striker” was not lost on Höyelun. The second half of the league season brought him back to life. Starting with a goal against Tottenham Hotspur, he went on a six-match goal streak in February with a goal and an assist against Wolverhampton (4-3), a goal against West Ham (3-0), a goal against Villa (2-1), and two goals against Luton Town (2-1). He has scored eight goals in his last eight official games, and in February, the Red Devils were unbeaten in games in which he scored, with five goals in four games. He is currently sidelined with an injury that will keep him out until mid-March.

Saka is another strong Player of the Month candidate. He started all four games in February and scored six goals. He scored once against Liverpool (3-1), twice against West Ham (6-0), twice against Burnley (5-0), and once against Newcastle (4-1). “Xhaka was the 토토 Premier League’s top scorer in February,” said the PL office. He scored six goals as Arsenal beat leaders Liverpool, West Ham United, Burnley, and Newcastle United in their only 100 percent win,” the PL office noted.

Watkins is no slouch either. In four games, Watkins has four goals and two assists. He had a goal and two assists in a 5-0 win over Sheffield United, two goals in a 2-1 win over Fulham, and a goal in a 4-2 win over Nottingham Forest. “The all-rounder’s four goals and two assists have given him 24 attacking points this season, joint-most in the Premier League,” the PL office noted.

Watkins has 14 goals and 10 assists in the league so far, tied for first in the PL with Mohamed Salah’s 15 goals and nine assists and 24 total attacking points.
