Jeju Dream Tower’s casino sales fall 20pcm-o-m in September

Casino sales at the Dream Tower Casino Resort (file photo) in Jeju Island, which is a vacation destination, fell 20.0 percent month-on-month to about 14.33 billion won in September, according to data submitted Tuesday to the Korea Exchange. August sales fell 10.9 percent from July.

Casino table “drops” in September, the amount customers paid to purchase chips for table games, came to about 103.76 billion won, up 67.7 percent from a year ago, but down 21.8 percent sequentially.

The Jeju Dream Tower recorded a total of 28,165 casino visitors in September, down only 1.9 percent from August.

According to financial data released on the resort operator Lotte Tour Development website, the number of casino visitors at the property in August was 28,718, breaking the monthly casino record since its opening in June 2021.

Hotel sales fell 24.9 percent sequentially to about 7.91 billion won in September, according to a Tuesday report. The figure also represents a 7.5 percent year-on-year decline.

The company has no comment on the reason for the change.

In the first nine months of this year, casino sales rose 186.5 percent year-on-year to nearly 103.6 billion won.

In the first nine months of Sept. 30, sales of machine games rose 182.7 percent to nearly 10.14 billion won, while sales of 90.22 billion won were up 187.0 percent year-on-year.

In the first nine months of this year, the cumulative drop in casino tables was 888.16 billion won, an increase of 180.0% year-on-year.

From January to September, hotel sales fell 23.2 percent year-on-year to about 69.27 billion won.
