ROTO-Québec Prepares To Resume Contract Talks With Unions

Rotto-Quebec issued a statement expressing disappointment at CSN’s second crippled action in the negotiation process and said Crown Corp had offered a number of possible solutions to address union concerns, but according to its employer, those terms were rejected in the last two days of discussions. 릴게임

Unionized workers at several Quebec casinos went on strike in June 2023 after voting for an unlimited general strike. They demand better wages and an additional Canadian dollar per hour to meet the rising cost of living in the state. But the employer insists the demand is too steep and refuses to meet it.

The gambling company recently said in the media that it will continue to make serious and constructive decisions with unions to improve working conditions while ensuring public money is managed responsibly. Crown previously claimed the union had made unrealistic demands for a 24% increase over three years.

The employer said the union initially demanded more than twice what it gave to all other employees of the Crown agency in 2022, adding that despite subsequent progress, the gap between union demands and the offer remains very wide, noting that the seven other collective agreements since 2022 have been well-received by all parties in the same profession.

Moreover, Crown claims that casino pay is higher than the benchmark market, which provides good working conditions for all of its members, and CSN employees say they mostly benefited from incentive pay last year, giving bonuses to nearly 65% of their working hours.

Although the media also noted that they are experiencing the same staffing and retention issues as most companies, the still attractive casino conditions have offered more than 300 new hires since April 1, 2023, and the company explained that nearly 40% of its gamehouse workforce has more than 20 years of experience.

Due to the ongoing picket line that began in June, some branches of the Crown will be operating during new working hours. Casinos Lac-Leamy, Salon dejeux de Trois-Rivières and Salon dejeux de Québec follow their usual schedules. However, Montréal, Charlevoix, and Mont-Tremblant casinos function with a modified schedule for each location, with some services limited.

The employer has been informed that the full working hours of each gaming facility can be found on the casino’s official website. It also noted that no dealers from Montréal, Charlevoix and Lac-Leamy locations were involved in the strike. Also, online gaming platform lotoquebec.com will resume regular digital work without being affected.
