Yoon Do-young of Daejeon Hana Citizen, a professional soccer team that was selected as a K-League All-Star at the age of 17, boldly declared that he would break through Tottenham Hotspur’s defender Emerson Royale of the English Premier League (EPL) with a one-on-one breakthrough.
Yoon Do-young met with reporters at a team K-League interview held at the Mayfield Hotel in Gangseo-gu, Seoul on the 31st and expressed his determination ahead of the match against Tottenham, saying, “I was just trying to have fun, but now that I’ve actually joined the team, I also want to show (my skills).”
Born in 2006, striker Do-young Yoon is a 17-year-old boy who has not yet celebrated his birthday.
Do-young Yoon, who started playing in the K-League since May as a semi-pro, was consistently given opportunities in Daejeon, appearing in 10 games and recording 2 assists, and delighting the eyes of soccer fans with his flashy moves on the wing.
As a result, he was selected by Pohang Steelers manager Park Tae-ha and Suwon FC manager Kim Eun-joong to join the K-League team and will play in the first match of the 2024 Coupang Play Series against Tottenham, which will be held at Seoul World Cup Stadium at 8:00 PM today.
Yoon Do-young said, “Since this is an event match, I will show off skills such as dribbling that the fans will enjoy,” and “Last year, among the players from Daejeon in Team K League, Anton and Lee Chang-geun did well, and although the team was different at the time, Lee Soon-min scored a goal. I will continue the momentum of Daejeon.”
He also expressed his anticipation to see how well his skills would fare against Tottenham players.
Yoon Do-young, who had said, “I want to try a one-on-one breakthrough against Cristian Romero,” could not hide his excitement when he heard that Romero was not included in the Tottenham team visiting Korea, saying, “Then I will go against Emerson.”
He continued, “Since winning or losing isn’t that important, I want to try everything I can and, even if it doesn’t work out, I want to feel it with my body and find meaning in 한국을 the challenge.” He added, “I haven’t scored my debut goal in the K-League yet, but if I score in this game, I want to gain confidence and continue my performance in the league.”
Yoon Do-young, who is still a third-year high school student, is also the envy of his school friends.
Yoon Do-young, who relayed the reactions of those around him by saying, “My friends said, ‘Are you playing with Son Heung-min? That’s cool,'” aroused curiosity by saying, “If I’m lucky enough to get a chance, I’ll shoot. I’ve prepared a ceremony, but it’s a secret. Since it’s related to Tottenham, I’ll do a ceremony that we can all do together.”
