Macau averaged over 120,000 visitors a day during this year’s Labor Day holiday, according to data from the Public Security Police. A total of 604,395 visitors entered Macau between May 1 and May 5, including the Labor Day holiday in mainland China, Macau’s main tourism supply market.
The daily tally for the period was nearly 8% below the 130,000 daily visitors forecast weeks before the holiday by the Macau government’s tourism agency.
Friday was 154,006, the highest single-day tally for five days. The holiday Saturday was accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy rain in the mainland Guangdong province, which borders Macau.
The police data does not include source market analysis for inbound visitors.
